Dress Rehearsal for the Opening

During the dress rehearsal, the Palmenbar in the Schwindfoyer and the buffet in the Parterrefoyer will be open for you. Both areas will be operated by Gerstner, our catering partner, during the dress rehearsal.

From entry until the start of the dress rehearsal, you will have the opportunity to take a look at the rooms and halls, some of which are already decorated. The Main Staircase, the Gallery and the Balcony, are of course also accessible.

Regarding the state rooms: the Gustav Mahler Hall, the Schwindfoyer and the Schwindloggia are open to you.

No. As this is a rehearsal for the opening of the Opera Ball, the event ends after this rehearsal. Unfortunately, dancing in the ballroom not possible.

During the dress rehearsal, the entire opening is rehearsed. In contrast to the ball evening, members of the orchestra do not yet wear tailcoats or ball gowns, and the members of the opening committee are also not yet in their ball attire.

The raffle for tickets to the dress rehearsal of the Vienna Opera Ball is a random selection procedure for the allocation of tickets. No tickets will be given away directly; instead, people will be selected via the raffle, the winners will be offered their requested tickets for sale.

The time at which the registration form was completed within the above-mentioned time period for the raffle has no effect on the procedure.

The opportunity to purchase tickets will be allocated at random among all persons participating in the raffle.
The allocated tickets must be purchased by payment within 14 days of notification.

Everyone who won, was notified until December 12, 2026. If you did not receive any feedback from us by Friday, December 12, 2026, you will not be able to purchase tickets for the 2027 dress rehearsal for the time being.

All natural persons with a minimum age of 18 years are eligible to participate. Participation with identities of third parties or fake identities is not permitted.
Employees of the Bundestheater Group are excluded from participation.

Each e-mail address and associated customer number will only be considered once; duplicate orders will be excluded from the selection process.
In the event of a breach of these conditions of participation or false information, we reserve the right to exclude such persons from the selection process.

This also applies to persons who use unauthorized aids or otherwise gain advantages through manipulation.
In such cases, tickets may be reclaimed and put back on sale.

Finally, we reserve the right to make changes and additions to the selection process without prior notice or to cancel the allocation completely.
This applies in particular in the event of force majeure or if the selection procedure cannot be carried out or continued for organizational, technical or legal reasons.

Tickets for the dress rehearsal of the Vienna Opera Ball are sold by the Vienna State Opera exclusively directly to visitors to the dress rehearsal of the Vienna Opera Ball.
The commercial resale of tickets and any transfer of tickets is only permitted with the written permission of the Vienna State Opera.

Registration for the selection process or ticket orders from tour operators or commercial resellers will not be considered; any tickets allocated to them may be blocked.

The use of tickets for competitions, raffles, tombolas etc. is not permitted without the prior written consent of the Vienna State Opera.

A maximum of 4 tickets can be requested per registration.
